Grade and Grade Points of Post Graduate Programmes

(1) Course Grading/SGPA/CGPA

Letter Grade Grade Point (GP) % of Total Marks Obtained
O(Outstanding) 10 95% and above
A+ (Excellent) 9 80% and above but less than 95%
A (Very Good) 8 70% and above but less than 80%
B+ (Good) 7 60% and above but less than 70%
B (Above Average) 6 50% and above but less than 60%
C (Average) 5 40% and above but less than 50%
P (Pass) 4 35% and above but less than 40%. Having 30% or above for ESE is a necessary and sufficient condition for a pass.
F (Fail) 0 Below 35% (CIE + ESE) or Below 30% for ESE
I 0 Could not register for the end semester examination but fulfills the eligibility criteria or cancellation of the examination.
Ab 0 Absent
FE 0 Failed due to lack of eligibility criteria

CIE – Continuous Internal Evaluation     ESE – End Semester Examination

(2) SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) = Total CPs/Total Credits

(3) CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) = Total Credit Point of all the Semesters/Total Credit of all the Semesters

(4) Total= ESE+CIE

(5) GP(Grade Point )=Total/10

(6) CP(Credit Point)= GP x Credit

(7) Requirement for the Successful Completion of the Programme
A learner shall earn a minimum of 72 credits including Credit for Discipline core, specific elective language core, Modern Indian Language, Ancillary course, Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course, Skill Enhancement Compulsory Coume, Skill Enhancement Course, Generic Elective, and Project work and viva voce For the successful completion of a semester, a learner has to score a minimum SGPA of 3.5 (P Grade).
For the successful completion of a programme and award of a degree, a student must pass all the courses satisfying the minimum credit requirement and must score a minimum CGPA of 3.5 and an overall grade of P.

(8) CGPA(s) is a CGPA for specialized subjects (it is computed in a similar manner but without considering the language course, foundation course for language, and open course)

(9) Marks awarded for Viva Voce examination are treated as CIE for Dissertation/Project
