Prof. (Dr.) Jagathy Raj V. P. assumed the role of Vice Chancellor at Sreenarayanaguru Open University,Kollam in March 2024. Prior to this, he has served as a Senior Professor in the Operations and Systems Management area at the School of Management Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology,Kochi till 31.05.2024. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, and previously served as the Director of the School of Management Studies, CUSAT from March 2021 to March 2024.
Dr. Jagathy Raj completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kerala, followed by an M.Tech in Electronics with a specialization in Communication and an MBA in Systems and Operations Management from Cochin University of Science and Technology. With a career spanning 34 years, he has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and administration in both engineering and management domains.
Dr. Jagathy Raj possesses extensive expertise in educational planning, administration, institution building, teaching, training, research, development, and capacity building. With over nine years of administrative experience and more than 36 years of teaching and research experience in Engineering and Management fields, he brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his role. Dr. Jagathy Raj supervises research scholars in both Technology and Management domains and has guided 22 Ph.Ds and 11 M.Phil graduates, with five more currently pursuing their Ph.D.s under his mentorship.
Dr. Jagathy Raj has contributed extensively to academia with over 255 research publications in distinguished national and international journals and conference proceedings. His work has earned significant citations (more than 1748 citations), reflecting a strong impact and credibility in his field, as evidenced by his impressive h-index (20) and i10 index (39). Proficient in areas such as computer simulation, modeling, optimization, productivity enhancement, logistics, supply chain management, and ERP systems, Dr. Jagathy Raj is sought after for consulting assignments by prominent businesses.Additionally, he holds roles as a consultant and expert member for various government and non-governmental organizations, further showcasing his expertise and influence beyond academic circles.
Dr. Jagathy Raj's influence extends far beyond academia, demonstrated by his diverse roles such as serving on the Syndicate, Senate, and Academic Council at the University of Kerala. Additionally, he has played pivotal roles such as Chairman/Member Coordinator of NAAC Peer Team for UGC, Member of AICTE Peer, and Director of the Centre for Information Resource Management at Cochin University of Science and Technology. Actively engaged in over 40 national and international professional bodies and associations, Dr. Jagathy Raj consistently contributes to the advancement of knowledge and values within these spheres, highlighting his dedication to broader community development beyond the confines of academia.
